How to Cook Perfect Steak in an Oven

This is a foolproof, quick, and easy way to cook a tender steak in the oven with a crispy, peppery crust. You can easily make a delicious and easy dinner for both weeknights or special occasions by adding loaf bread, a salad and a bottle of wine.

A good steak is worth it.

The first step to cooking great steaks is to purchase great steaks. This can be done by visiting a local butcher who sources the meat from local farms or raises them himself. This meat is often of higher quality and tastes better, so it’s a better choice.

My steak is purchased from a butcher at Bluescreek Farm Meats. Their beef is raised on a nearby farm and dried-aged for two weeks. I love their steaks! When you buy from people like them, there is always a difference between your steaks’ taste and quality.

The bottom line: Get the best steak. It will still be less expensive than dining out, no matter how costly. You can expect to pay the highest price for a pound of steak. If it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

Which cut should I buy?

My favourite is ribeye steaks, but this method can be used with any cut of steak, including ribeye or T-bone, filet monsieur, strip-steak or other.

You should ensure that the steak you purchase is at least 1 inch thick. If it’s less, reduce the cooking time and make sure to check it early, so it doesn’t get overcooked. It would be best to look for steaks with some white fat at the edges and good fat marbling the inside.

A pound of steak can easily feed two people and be extended to feed three or four more.

Our 15-Minute Oven Technique

This process takes about 15 minutes. Before you begin cooking, make sure to have the rest of the meal prepared, the candles lit, and the wine poured. Before you know it, you’ll have a perfectly juicy and medium-rare steak with crispy edges. This is our favourite method to cook steaks. It’s much easier than grilling.

Five Easy Sauces to Dress up a Steak

This easy to prepare steak leaves you plenty of time to make a special sauce. You can make simple guacamole or a complex mustard-shallot sauce if you’re looking for extra-easy sauces.

Let the steak cool to room temperature. Blot the steak dry using paper towels. Allow the steak to rest at room temperature for 30 minutes. This will allow it to cook evenly.
