Instructions for dry ice handling
Why send cookies with dry Ice? Cookies can be flash-frozen with dry Ice to ensure they arrive fresh. They will stay frozen for 24 hours. This allows them to ship overnight and reach their destination. This method of shipping cookies requires a few tools and some knowledge about dry ice handling. These are some important things to remember when handling dry Ice.
- Dry Ice should be purchased at least 2 hours before you intend to use it. Dry Ice doesn’t last in the refrigerator or freezer, so it must be used as soon as possible.
- Never place dry Ice inside airtight containers. Place the dry ice bag in a plastic bag and close the lid. Dry Ice needs ventilation to keep it from melting. To minimize the risk of an explosion, do not store it in a sealed container.
- When handling dry Ice, always use gloves and tongs. Dry Ice should not be touched with naked skin. It can cause frostbite and burns if touched.
- Avoid pets and children. You should keep your dry Ice away from curious children. This task requires parental supervision!
